Remembering my Dad

My wonderful Dad passed from this earth 3 years ago today.  Physically he is gone but spiritually he surrounds me with all the memories of him and his life.  I never knew I also look so much like my Dad until a recent photo was taken of me.  I have his dark brown eyes and it was as if he was looking back at me.
Today I will think of my Dad as I do everyday but even more so as I remember the lessons and love of life he left with me while he was here on this beautiful earth.
 I love you Dad. September 6, 1922-May 20, 2010

Home for awhile!!

I just got home from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  It was so wonderful to meet and talk with so many wonderful Quilters at the show.  I enjoyed myself at this great show and had fun seeing some of Pigeon Forge on my "off" hours.  I went to a fantastic Western store and had great fun trying on cowboy boots and several country outfits.  I resisted temptation this year and just enjoyed window shopping!  The weather was great to sit on my hotel balcony overlooking the river and enjoying the ducks and geese that came by!  The daffodils were in full bloom!  The day I left there was a forest fire several blocks from where I stayed.  There were no injuries but many cabins sadly burned.  I hope everyone is allright.  The Smoky Mountains are so beautiful.  I took several evening walks and watched the Mountains turn blue in the sunset.
I had fun seeing my sister Linda and her husband Ray in Kentucky.  Ray cooked wonderful meals for us both.  I was fortunate to be on their farm during birthing season for the goats!  I saw a baby goat being born...so very precious! My ride home was through Mountains in West Virginia covered in snow.

Spring Tease!

Today I packed my car for A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The day was a perfect day of warm sunshine and blue skies.  A real beauty!  Spring is making its appearance with crocus and snowdrops.  I am always glad when the winter cold is over. I took a walk and enjoyed the warm sun on my face.  I look forward to seeing you in Pigeon Forge.  Always a great show and I love looking at all the stores of cowboy boots in my off hours when I am not at the show.
I plan to visit my sister Linda and her husband Ray on their farm in Kentucky after the show.  I arrive on St Patrick's Day and Ray has promised a traditional Irish dinner of corned beef and cabbage.  Happy St Patrick's Day and Happy National Quilting Day to all my Quilting friends!!!
