Back from the shore!

I went to Ocean City, New Jersey for the week.  I so very much love the ocean and the peace it gives me.  I love walking the beach and boardwalk.  Every morning I get up to watch the sunrise.  It is wonderful to see the sun peek over the horizon.

The Ocean has always been my "go to" place when I need to find peace and joy in my life.  It has inspired paintings, seen me through heartache and given me comfort each day I watch the surf, seagulls and many shore birds.

I am sharing some photos from some of my times at the shore. Enjoy!

Happy October!

Enjoy the month of October!  Leaves are starting to change color to beautiful orange, yellow, red and crimson.  I see pumpkins orange in the fields with seasonal offerings of apple cider and pumpkin inspired food and drink. My favorite month with the perfect ending of Halloween!!

Happy Autumn!

It is hard to believe that the Summer is over.  It went so fast.  Autumn is my favorite season because of the breath-taking trees showing colors of gold, red, bronze, orange and yellow.  I love seeing the pumpkins in the fields and apples ripened on the trees.
I have several Autumn shows that I enjoy being at every year!  Check out my schedule on my website at www.dianephalen.com
I would love to visit with you!

Remembering Mom

In addition to my show information I like to include personal happenings in my life on my blog.  I have been grieving the loss of my wonderful Mom this past year.  On August 5, she has been physically gone from my life for one year.

I miss her every day and her memories surround me.  I was so blessed by her kindness and love she always gave me.  She always said how proud she was of her daughters, Diane, Linda, Mary and Anne.  I was very proud of her and all the wonderful memories she gave me all my life.  I love you sweet Mom , always and forever.

Welcome August!

The month of August is here.  I just finished my Summer shows and will not have a show until October!  I am in my studio painting my new series of Quilt borders by the month.  I am painting a scene of Lake Tahoe, California with a Lodge Quilt Border.

I miss seeing Lake Tahoe.  When I lived in California I would go there and exhibit at Art shows that were around the Lake.  In Autumn I would return to hike the many trails.  Winter was also beautiful and the skiing was awesome.

I hope you enjoy August and the rest of Summer!!

Welcome July

I just finished exhibiting at the Kutztown Folk Festival.  The week went fast and I enjoyed so much seeing familiar and new faces and talking with everyone.  It was fun to be able to paint during my 9 days at the Festival.  Yes, it was a hot week with temperatures in the 90's and humidity to match!

Despite the heat I always enjoy this show.  I will finish the painting I was working on in my studio this week.  I get ready for my next show in Hershey beginning on July 19.  Another favorite show.  I hope you can come by.  Check my website at www.dianephalen.com for more information.

Enjoy Summer!

Welcome June!

June is here!  The weather remains unsettled with very few warm days and the sun is hiding behind the clouds more then I would like!
I am getting ready for the Kutztown Folk Festival.  A nine day stretch of show.  I look forward to this show every year.  I bring my watercolor paints and demonstrate all throughout the show.  The hours are long so I am happy I can paint in between sales.
I am spending lots of hours in my studio.  I am so blessed to have my art.  Every day I grieve the loss of my wonderful Mom.  I miss hearing her voice and telling her about my day.  I always shared my paintings with her.  My Mom and Dad were my biggest fans and supporters.
I am working on some new ideas with the quilt images.  So far I have completed a series of six.  Still too soon to show, but there will be a sneak preview at the Kutztown Folk Festival.  Please visit my website for information on the show at www.dianephalen.com
I look forward to seeing you!
