Happy New Year!

Happy 2017!  Wishing everyone a year filled with love, joy and happiness.  I am always sorry to see the holiday season come to an end.  I love everything about Christmas from the Hallmark movies, decorations and family and friend celebrations.
Now that January is here I am looking forward to several months in my studio.  Hoping for a good winter snow for inspiration for my snow paintings!
Welcome January with my painting "Winter Blues"

Christmas is Around the Corner!

It is hard to believe that Christmas will soon be here.  I love this time of year.  My favorite moments are seeing the beautiful Christmas lights twinkling in the cold night air.
My walks through the woods every day are special too.  I love seeing the trees bare against the sky.  I have a favorite walking place nearby, Trexler Park.  I love all the birds I can now so easily see among the branches.  There are chickadees, cardinals, nuthatches and even Canada geese in the pond.

I just finished my last show of the season and am looking forward to time in my studio to paint.
I love the quiet of Winter and always hope for a snow day or two!
Enjoy this cold but quiet time of year!

November has arrived!  It is difficult to believe how fast this year has gone by.  I love the Autumn months.  It seems like the prettiest months go the fastest.  I am still enjoying the fall colors on the trees.  Knowing that Autumn has only a few short weeks left makes me sad.  There is something about my walks in the woods, smelling the leaves and still feeling the warm rays of sunshine.  I have shared some with you here on my blog!
This year I have been blessed with a family of fox that frequent my yard.  I am working on sketches of them that I hope to develop in to a painting.
My Autumn shows are in full swing and I am enjoying each and every one.  Wishing all my friends and family a wonderful Thanksgiving!

October is here already!

I can not believe the last time I posted on my blog it was Spring!  Can I say that the months have flown by and I find myself in the first day of October going "What?"  I enjoyed the summer here in Pennsylvania so very much!  It was hot, sunny and blue skies almost every day!  I loved it!  I did a lot of summer shows and enjoyed long walks in the sunshine every day.

I am painting in my studio when I can.  Every precious moment I spend there always brings me joy!  I hope everyone had a great summer.  I am still hoping for some left over warm days in October!  I do not want to see my butterflies and beautiful flowers go away!

I will post on my blog more often, I promise!  I keep my Diane Phalen Watercolors facebook updated with shows.  Please visit me there too!  Happy October!  Enjoy the beautiful autumn colors, pumpkins, apple pie and Halloween!

Spring is here!

Spring is finally arriving after a very cold start!  I had not realized that I had not written anything on my blog since Christmas.  I have been using my facebook page to update my show information.  I hope you will visit it at https://facebook.com/dianephalenwatercolors.

I have been enjoying the return of the beautiful flowers. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths are now blooming.  My Dogwood trees look like they want to...but the cold nights have kept them from blossoming.  I am painting some birds and flowers in my studio.

My mornings are full of the return of songs from cardinals, chickadees, and many more.

Welcome Spring!!!

Christmas around the Corner!

Almost one week until Christmas!  It has been a busy season!  I finished my last show of 2015!  I have started to sketch out my annual Christmas painting to celebrate 2016.  It is fun to be back in my studio again.  In between my studio hours I love taking walks in the winter woods behind my home.  In the evening hours I walk my neighborhood to see the beautiful Christmas lights.  I love this time of year!  I hope you are enjoying the holiday season with family and friends!
